Milkful Momma – Gourmet Lactation Bars

For all of you breastfeeding mamas out there, I decided I would write this post for you! If you’re anything like me and you’re always busy, whether it’s with work or the kids, you’re probably not going to take the time to make yourself some lactation cookies. I did make some for myself not long after my daughter was born, but let’s face it. I am not very good at doing a ton of stuff in the kitchen while my kids are awake and while they’re asleep, I’d rather be working out.

But these little nuggets of lactation GOLD are amazing.

I was so excited to be contacted by Milkful to receive a free box of these delicious treats to try out. How nice of them, right?!20616079_10209605905536734_230309639_o-e1501686742660-1024x1024 Milkful Momma - Gourmet Lactation Bars

I actually started noticing a dip in my supply when I was getting ready to go back to work after a long period of maternity leave. Not only that, I was starting to work out pretty heavily. After seeing my supply drop and not being able to pump as much as I thought I would need for my little while I was at work, I decided to not workout as intensely and to make sure I was taking in enough fat calories. Enter: Milkful Lactation Oat Bars.

I decided to start eating these. I figured, they were probably better than me trying to make my own lactation cookies and they were free, so why not?

So, they have 3 flavors/kinds of bars that you can choose from. I was sent a variety pack and I am pretty thankful for that! I was excited to try them all. Here’s the cool thing about these bars (I mean, besides their milk-boosting power):

SOY FREE
EGG FREE
DAIRY FREE
WHEAT FREE

It’s true. And they are freaking delicious! I know, you wouldn’t think so with how much these bars are FREE of. At least, I didn’t think so because I am a total dairy snob. Hey, I am from Wisconsin. I like my dairy!

I first tried the Blueberry Almond Coconut one. Let me tell you, if you love coconut, you will love this bar. I personally, am not a huge coconut fan. Don’t get me wrong. it was good, but I didn’t like it that much. It wasn’t a flavor I would reach for often.

20616079_10209605905536734_230309639_o-e1501686742660-1024x1024 Milkful Momma - Gourmet Lactation Bars

Then I tried the Chocolate Banana Nut. I thought,
Okay, you can’t go wrong with chocolate.
And I was right. It was delicious. Chocolate is always delicious.

But the winner…oh man. The winner here is the Maple Walnut one! I didn’t even expect that at all! Mostly becuase I thought the chocolate was going to win. But this one was definitely my favorite. Let’s just say that I was pleasantly surprised. It also makes me happy to know that I am helping boost my supply without having to take any other supplements/pills or drink some disgusting tasting tea…

I definitely recommend this to any mama who may be having issues producing. I would even recommend it to any mama who just wants to eat something delicious and make sure her supply doesn’t drop! If you’re looking to get some, make sure you head on over to Milkful to order yourself some, today!

Leaving The Military: “So, What’s Next?”

For those of you who have been reading my blog for awhile have probably noticed that I am in the military. Well, that journey is going to come to an end very soon. And in the

376292_3456229416747_707591486_n Leaving The Military: "So, What's Next?"
The day I graduated boot camp.

military, there is a process where you have to go all over the base or everywhere in your command/unit to get signatures – check out. You have to literally check out of the military as if you were checking out of a hotel. And everyone you check out with will ask you this question:

“So, what’s next?”

There’s nothing wrong with asking that but that seems to be the question on everyone’s minds when you’re about to separate from the military. And I would always answer them politely, with the same, rehearsed response:

“I’m going to be a mom. Stay home with the kids. Go back to school in a year to finish my degree once we find out where we are going next (husband is remaining active duty ) and maybe pursue personal training.”

376292_3456229416747_707591486_n Leaving The Military: "So, What's Next?"
First time on a ship.

I am pretty sure I have said that about 100 times in the past few days. But is that really what I want? I am writing this post after I had a minor panic attack when I sat in my car, thinking about what IS next? I mean, I know I am going to be a stay-at-home-mom for awhile and I am going to take care of the babies. I am going to sleep in when the kids let me and I am going to color my hair purple. I will have more time to write and to keep the house clean! As for the “real” adulting stuff, I am not sure. And then all the questions started to pour in.

Will I ever get a job that pays as much?

Will I ever get another job with the same amount of benefits?

How will my current job in the military translate to the civilian world?

Am I making a mistake?

After a little bit of speed texting to a good friend of mine (who happens to be a vet) and a lot of ranting, venting and…virtual hyperventilating, I realized,376292_3456229416747_707591486_n Leaving The Military: "So, What's Next?"

I don’t know what’s next. And it’s okay that I don’t.

So, even though I am giving the answer mentioned above, to every single person who asks me what I am going to do with my life after the military, I don’t exactly know what I want to do! I have so many passions and interests that maybe it’s time for me to explore those options. I mean, for the first time in five years, I won’t HAVE to set an alarm everyday. I won’t have to wear a uniform or do my hair. I don’t even have to run a brush through it if I don’t want to. I won’t have anyone telling me where to go and what to do and have to “follow orders.” Well, besides the orders that I am taking from the tiny dictators my husband and I have created.
376292_3456229416747_707591486_n Leaving The Military: "So, What's Next?"

For the first time in five years, I don’t have a plan. Nothing specific or set in stone. And as much as I LOVE to plan things out and plan my day (insert The Happy Planner) – do you know how freeing that is? I can take my time with things and not feel rushed.

My husband and I got married almost three years ago and ever since then, we have spent our weekends getting the laundry and housework done. Many meals were just quick and easy and not as healthy. We went out to eat (a lot) which we won’t be able to do as much when we’re broke (ha…ha…ha..). And we never got to go anywhere because we were too busy on the weekends just taking care of things in our home!

So, if I am going to sit here and talk about my plans for what’s next, I would have to say:

More weekend adventures with the family
Taking my kids to the park
Reading to my kids
Potty training my son
Doing the laundry throughout the week instead of letting it pile up until the weekend…
and putting it away sooner than three weeks from now.
Making healthier meals for the family
Actually CLEANING my house – not just picking up
Read books
Teach my kids things about life
Laugh with them, hug them, kiss them, and just BE WITH them

I spoke to another friend about my worries and she reminded me of one major thing:

People do this everyday.

She is so right. People DO do this everyday. There are people who never even joined the military and are doing this whole stay at home mom thing and are killin’ it! Everyone finds a way to make things work for them and their families. As much as I am afraid of making a mistake as a mother and a wife, I cannot dwell in it and feed the fears. I just need to embrace it.

One of the best things I ever did with my life was joining the Navy. I learned a lot, lived a lot, and fell in love. I matured and I gained so much more knowledge than I ever thought possible. I met the love of my life and started a beautiful family. I became a strong and more confident woman.

376292_3456229416747_707591486_n Leaving The Military: "So, What's Next?"

And guess what? I joined the Navy wanting to do 20 years and retire…but did I KNOW what I was going to do with the rest of my life? With those 20 years? Nope. And I did just fine. Even better than fine.

Sometimes, we just need to remember that not everything is certain. But we can be certain to make an amazing life for ourselves with whatever comes our way.

So, what’s next?
We shall wait and see.

It’s a Giveaway! – Happy Planner

img_1538 It's a Giveaway! - Happy Planner
Hello!

This is so exciting. I am doing my first ever giveaway…on the blog! If you’ve been following me for awhile, you know that I am one of “those crazy planner people.” It’s so true. I love using my planner and having fun with it. Unfortunately, my Plan With Me posts have slowed down quite a bit because I haven’t been decorating as much but I know I will in the near future.

But since I have a bit of an overstock of supplies and planners that I am just not going to use, I decided to do a small giveaway! This is mostly going to take place on and through my instagram but I thought I would share it on here anyway. Plus, there are more photos and I can talk a little bit more about each of the items!

So, if you want to be entered into the giveaway, be sure to check out my Instagram! Rules will be posted on the photo!! You don’t want to miss out!

I seriously, have too many planners. I have actually had a few of the Classic Happy Planners and got rid of them. And a couple fitness planners as well. I really don’t use them. I was using the fitness planners for awhile to track my macros and what not but girl, that’s a TON of work! It lasted about 4 weeks and I started using an app on my phone. When it comes to actually planning out my week, I much prefer the pen-to-paper method anyway. So, that’s why the fitness planner is included!

img_1538 It's a Giveaway! - Happy Plannerimg_1538 It's a Giveaway! - Happy Planner
I even had a few extra sticker sheets laying around, including a fitness pack from Me and My Big Ideas that are also meant for The Happy Planner. I figured, why not throw a few in there!

As for the scrapbook paper – you’re probably wondering why that’s in there. Well, I added the scrapbook paper simply because I use it a lot in my planners and if you’ve seen my posts, you might be interested in using them? Just a thought, I guess! I use them to add a little bit of a different color to the backgrounds of my weekly spread. Sometimes it actually helps me to make everything more coordinated.

I just figured that since I have a large supply of craft supplies and planner supplies, I’d  just do a giveaway for someone maybe wanting to try something new! Maybe you’ll find a new passion. Best of luck to you!!

Plan With Me – Valentine’s Day and Date Nights

dsc_0058_fotor Plan With Me - Valentine's Day and Date Nights

Happy Valentine’s Day!!

Yes, I finally have a post going up on a Tuesday (even though I prefer Mondays) instead of Thursday! Better to have my PWM posts in the beginning of the week and not the end.

Anyway, I was pretty excited about this spread for the week! No washi tape was used this time. Just craft paper and stickers. As I am sure you have noticed over the past few weeks, I am a huge fan of the floral prints. So, I was super excited to use the gorgeous rose craft paper I have in this week’s spread. It was just perfect for all of the pink I was going to use for the week. dsc_0058_fotor Plan With Me - Valentine's Day and Date Nights

As for most people who have kids and work (just assuming), we are going out this weekend. Friday to be exact. A friend of ours offered to watch the kids and it’s going to be nice. I put a bottle of wine and a wine glass on there but let’s be honest…we are going to go to the gym together without the kids! That’s the first part of our date! Hey, we take what we can get. We didn’t go on all too many dates after our son was born but now that we have two kids, it’s a little more difficult to get a sitter! Plus, little girl is still on the ta-tas.

We have another birthday party this weekend for a sweet, little one year old and on Valentine’s Day, a close friend of mine is moving to Japan. I am pretty sad about it. Her kids both are 5 weeks older than both of my kids. And we had recently gotten pretty close. This is the Navy life. And I should get used to it. I mean, it’s been almost 5 years already and I have seen friends come and go. But when I am out of the military, it will be interesting to see how I deal with friends leaving. I am wishing my friend and her family the best of luck, safe travels, and who knows…we may see each other again! The Navy isn’t THAT big! 😛

dsc_0058_fotor Plan With Me - Valentine's Day and Date Nights

Well, that’s about it for this weekly spread! I am in my second to last week of maternity leave and then I will be headed back to work. There might be more in the planner…or less. Who knows?! But I will take these next few weeks and enjoy them because I know I am going to cry when I go back to work! haha.

Plan With Me – February 5-11

dsc_0042_fotor1 Plan With Me - February 5-11

Hey folks! It’s time for yet another “Plan With Me” post. Funny thing is, it’s Thursday and the week is almost over. But I had to try and post some photos anyway!!

I did actually find the time to decorate my Happy Planner and it was fun. It’s a big week in my life….

dsc_0042_fotor1 Plan With Me - February 5-11

MY SON TURNS TWO. Insert all the feels and the tears. That is precisely how I am feeling at the moment! It’s really great watching him grow up but it’s still so sad seeing him go form a baby to a toddler. And we are celebrating his birthday with an “un-party” if you will. It’s basically just a big play date and food for everyone. I went ALL out last year for his first birthday and I really don’t feel like doing that again to be honest.

To me, the first birthday makes a lot of sense to go all out. Having themes and crazy decorations and everything just makes sense. But then again, growing up, I didn’t really have a lot of themes or large birthday parties either. I vaguely remember a 7th birthday party in the basement of my house where we bobbed for apples and played pin the tail on the donkey…but I don’t really remember any parties after that. They were more of a, “You can have 3 friends over. There’s pizza and cake.” Turned out just fine, actually!

This week was also the beginning of the 2nd phase in my 12 week fitness program. Didn’t know I was doing a program/challenge? Oh yeah, that’s because I still need to write about it! Oops! I’ll get to that soon.

dsc_0042_fotor1 Plan With Me - February 5-11
I had to add the little superhero munchkin in there to help motivate me. 3 weeks down and 9 more to go! Unfortunately, I spent one of those weeks sick and just didn’t end up working out but it turned out okay!! I still saw some changes.

Man, I really need to do an update on that, huh? Hopefully next week I’ll have some goodies on here.

As for the rest of my life, there isn’t much. I’ve decided to do more documenting in my planner. Like, on Monday I drank a lot of coffee and really needed it while I vacuumed every room in the house. Maybe I’ll add a photo at the end of the week to this post as an “add-on” to recap what happened during my week.

I tend to take my PWM photos “before the pen” because:

  1. I think it looks cleaner to see more white space.
  2. I hate my handwriting.

But here’s the rest of the photos. I hope you enjoy! And yes, there’s a tiny human hand pointing at some stickers in my planner. He’s such a good helper.

Stickers are from The Happy Planner sticker packs and OnceMoreWithLove shop on Etsy. Scrapbook paper is from Hobby Lobby and the washi tape is from Michaels or Hobby Lobby. I keep tape for so long I don’t remember where they come from!

Beauty Review: Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Liner

dsc_0008_fotor1 Beauty Review: Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Liner

How awesome is this?! I got my first VoxBox from Influenster and it is this awesome Mac Jacobs Beauty box! I was so excited for my first box to arrive and since I had just joined Influenster, I didn’t realize it was going to be fairly quick for me to get one! But as promise, I am going to do a review on these fabulous products!dsc_0008_fotor1 Beauty Review: Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Liner

So, in the box, I got two of these fabulous Gel Liners. They are part of their Highliner Gel Liner…line. I have actually never used a gel liner before so I was pretty stoked to try this out. Also, they came in pretty brown shades that are PERFECT for an everyday look. I mostly use black liner for a cat eye but if I am going to have a more “natural” day, brown would actually be the better way to go!

I received the dark brown and the medium brown colors. They are a matte finish and are amazing. I really don’t even know what to say besides that they are so fantastic! They glide on so smoothly on the eyes and there’s no tugging involved. I hate it when I get an eyeliner and there is too much tugging going on when applying. They were pretty easy to smudge on the lower lash line too. I like to do that instead of having a harsh line of liner on the bottom. Especially since I rarely wear liner at the bottom.

dsc_0008_fotor1 Beauty Review: Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Liner

dsc_0008_fotor1 Beauty Review: Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Liner

Aren’t they just gorgeous brown shades?! And what’s REALLY cool about these guys is that there is a sharpener on the other end of the pencil. I love that because if I am on the go or traveling, I don’t need to pack a sharpener with me. The pencil itself has one and that makes life SO much easier for this mom of two!

These liners retail for $25 on the Sephora and Marc Jacobs Beauty sites. GUYS. TWENTY FIVE BUCKS. A PIECE!

No, I am not freaking out about the price because it’s expensive…hi, the Kat Von D tattoo liner is like $20, right? What I am freaking out about is the fact that I got TWO liners worth $25 each FOR FREE from Influenster! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Here are a few photos of the look I did with the liners. I used the medium brown one on both days that I wore them this past weekend. I used my iPhone 6s for the selfies.

dsc_0008_fotor1 Beauty Review: Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Liner
I did more of a super natural look on this day. Kept it very light and simple.

dsc_0008_fotor1 Beauty Review: Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Liner

Here are some more looks of what the liner looks like and what not. I am so pleased with my first box and I can’t wait to do more!!

Where to buy:

Sephora

Try out Influenster!

Plan With Me: Jan 30 – Feb 4 and Monthly View

On Saturday morning, I was up fairly early with my kids. They both decided that it would be fun to wake up early and keep mommy from getting rest. I was sick and later on during the weekend, they got sick too. Or vice versa. I don’t know who got who sick. But we were all sick. It wasn’t fun! Anyway, my husband was home so I took advantage of some alone time by working in my planner.

img_1699 Plan With Me: Jan 30 - Feb 4 and Monthly View

I texted that exact sentence to one of my planner friends. I sent her a photo of my planner and she loved it. Well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder! haha!

I really don’t mind how my planner turned out but I guess I was just so excited about how the past two weeks turned out that I was hoping this week was going to be pretty amazing as well.

I used (of course), a bunch of the happy planner sticker packs and other easy stickers I already had. I used this little sticker kit from Sunday Palm. I got this kit in a huge pack of stickers I got from someone in Planners Gone Wild. I don’t know if the easy shop exists anymore but if you come across it, let me know!

There really isn’t much to report. Not a lot going on this week. But it’s cute. haha.

Also, those stickers on the left in the pockets of the binder are from one of my FAVORITE shops! OnceMoreWithLove <3 Little Munchkins are the best!

img_1699 Plan With Me: Jan 30 - Feb 4 and Monthly View

I even worked on my monthly view for February. The funny thing about the sticker kit I used…I was able to use it in 4 different places!

My classic happy planner (weekly)
My mini happy planner
My classic fitness planner
AND
My classic happy planner (monthly)

Quick announcement:

I am looking into starting a vlog (again) and doing my plan with me’s on there instead!! We shall see how this goes. I’d like to keep my blog going but who knows what will happen. And if you’re reading this…you’re the first to know about it! 😉

January 15-21

img_0997 January 15-21

Well, I haven’t exactly been keeping up with the goal of taking a selfie everyday! Remember that list I made of rules for this project? As you can see from the many photos in this post…that didn’t happen. 😂  It’s okay though.

I ended up starting a new challenge on the 16th of this month anyway so, that’s kind of been taking up a lot of my time. As you can see, I have a lot of post workout selfies to take!

I’ve also been spending a lot of time meal prepping and tracking my macros. It’s a new way of doing things for me but it’s also pretty great. I’m doing more of flexible dieting rather than going on a diet. I’m not exactly eating whatever I want but I’m it restricting myself so much that I can’t eat either.

Girl, I’m eating all the carbs! ❤️️

I’ve also been trying to take some time, at least once a week, to do my makeup. Sounds silly, but it’s just a little something for ME. I mean, working out is for me. To keep me healthy, fit, get in shape, and to keep me sane…but the makeup thing is more for me to feel a little more “put together.” About 99% of the time I’m in workout clothes or I’m covered in baby spit up. So, getting presentable is nice every now and then.

Speaking of makeup: I tried lipsense for the first time during this past week. A friend of mine ended up just sending me some to try out. And let me tell you, this stuff works. I’m not one to believe in things until I’ve tried it so it’s pretty great that my friend sent it to me without me even asking. I think she knows I love makeup and just knew I’d love it. She was right. I loved it. If you’re interested, I’ll post a link below so you can check it out. She’s awesome.

Another thing about makeup – on my birthday I did go to Ulta and buy some makeup. Yes, I spoiled myself a little bit. I ended up getting something new and something that’s been out for quite awhile. Before I started really getting into makeup again, I never really knew of any brand besides MAC. Then I discovered Urban Decay when I was pregnant with my first and bought a palette (Naked 2), and I’ve been wanting the Naked 3 palette for the longest time. I refused to buy it because it was over $50. What’s wrong with me? 😂 I already have a Naked palette and they’re all priced the same. AND I’ve bought other brands lately and multiple palettes, I just realized that I might as well buy it! How silly am I?! So, I got that palette.

I even got the Too Faced – Sweet Peach Palette that recently came out. It smells so good and it’s my first ever Too Faced purchase. I’ll be doing a review on both of these palettes sometime when I get a chance. I may not be a makeup guru, but I’m still a woman and a mom and I think other super busy moms with a passion for makeup would also enjoy the opinion. I mean…I love makeup tutorials on YouTube. Trust me. But I feel like it’s so unrealistic to me sometimes. Yes, they have lives but the women we’re watching, have been doing this for awhile and are pretty established by now. Whereas I’m just like

“Hey. I’m a mom and have two kids. I love fitness aaaannnndddd I’m super freaking busy but makeup is so cool!”

Anyway, I’ll post more about those adventures some other time. 😆

And the rest of the photos are from this week and I hope you enjoy them!! Yes, I’m tandem wearing my kids. It’s awesome. I don’t just tandem nurse but I tandem wear!

A Letter To My Daughter – A Rainbow Baby

img_1316 A Letter To My Daughter - A Rainbow Baby ✨the stillness after the storm✨

When you were 4 weeks old, I took a photo similar to this one in appreciation of my post partum tummy. The tummy that housed you and grew you into the tiny human that lays upon me today.

But as I had shared in a previous post this last week, this month hasn’t always been so good to me. I’ve experienced loss. And this tummy had the privilege to be home to a little one, even if only for a few weeks. This was a year ago. Although I experience great joy that I have you here with me, I do not forget the little one that came before. The little angel that looks over you now, that is a piece of you and of me. My temple is not damaged, no good, not worthy, or less womanly. It’s a shame that women have felt that it’s too “taboo” to speak about miscarriage, as I have before, but it’s not something to be ashamed of. And it doesn’t make you less of a woman or a mother. My little girl, someday you will become a woman and a mother. I pray you never experience the sadness that I have, but if you do, know that you are strong and you will survive. 💕

The Truth About 28

img_8604 The Truth About 28
I posted a photo the other day on my Instagram, about how it felt to be TWENTY EIGHT. I mean, not much has really changed overnight from 27 to 28. I’m still me but at the same time, I’m different.

✨the truth about 28 – as I see it✨ ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• I'm still in my twenties. I'm still young. Long ago, I used to think 28 (or anything above 25) was old. 12 years ago, I experienced horrible heartache. And last year I experienced loss. This day doesn't always bring amazing memories but it's not always a sad day either. It's a day I get to celebrate each year, the woman I have become. The woman I am going to be. And the woman I once was. Every year, I sit and reflect on these days and today I sit here, so peaceful. Loving every moment of my life that I've been blessed with. I am a wife, a mother to two beautiful babies, I am healthy, I am strong, I am loved, and I am happy. Happy is not a word I used to describe myself in the years past but I can confidently say it now. 28 isn't a year of change or discovery for me. It's a year of passion. I’m currently stuck in this stage of not quite mid twenties but not yet thirty. What does that even entail these days? As I wrote in my Instagram post, a few years ago, I thought 30 was such a dirty word! It meant I was old! But the thing is, I still have so much life left ahead of me. And the best part about it is: I spent almost 28 years of my life trying to figure out who the heck I was, trying to find the confidence to be ME, and now I get to spend the rest of my life being me! Unapologetically!

My birthday isn’t something I ever look forward to. It’s another year I’ve been on this earth and another year I’ve gotten to enjoy the blessings in my life. But it wasn’t always like that. It seems that around my birthday, I’ve always dealt with some sort of pain or tragedy – a bad memory in my life.

  1. Death of a family member
  2. Loss of a pregnancy
  3. Losing another pregnancy
  4. Breakups

One of those things really isn’t that big of a deal now, but it took a long time for me to get past a few of the others. And although I won’t get into the details on this post, I will say that I’ve come out stronger than I was before.

And 28 as I see it…is a year of a fabulous me. The mommy of two beautiful children, the wife of a handsome and intelligent man, the active duty service member becoming a stay at home mom. It’s a year of experience, a year of learning, and a year of adventure. Adventures in motherhood, stay at home mom life, not earning my own income anymore, and adventures with my family!

So, no. I am not in my mid twenties or in my thirties. I am not old. I am not young and naive…

But I am everything and everywhere I am supposed to be. That’s the truth about 28, as I see it.
